About Ocean Beach
LocalCleanup hosts free monthly community cleanup events in Ocean Beach, San Diego every 3rd Sunday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. No experience needed and all supplies are provided.
Ocean Beach is a laid-back coastal community at the western tip of the Point Loma peninsula, known for its dog-friendly beach, historic fishing pier, and eclectic antique district along Newport Avenue. The neighborhood retains a relaxed, independent spirit with locally owned shops and a tight-knit community that actively cares for its public spaces. Ocean Beach's proximity to the ocean means that street litter has a short path to the water via storm drains, and the neighborhood's position at the mouth of the San Diego River adds additional debris from upstream sources. Community cleanups in Ocean Beach are critical for protecting both the neighborhood's character and the marine environment along this stretch of coastline.
